One of the High Points In My Life...so far

Just got word on another website that this magnificent plane crashed at an airshow in South Africa. The pilot was unable to eject and lost his life.

He was not the same pilot with whom I flew in this very plane, to 61,000 feet in two minutes, back at the beginning of this decade. My hands-on supersonic flight in this machine was quite literally the high point of my life, at that time.

That's tragic news Fin. Very sad.

Thanks Lou. I knew someone who knew the pilot who died, but I myself did not know him. It is a lot of plane to handle. The guy I flew with owned the plane.

That's an amazing plane and a very sad story. But I would think that the man at least had the privilege of dying doing exactly what he wanted to do. Not so many of us get to go out like that. Silver lining and whatsuch.

That is a good point and one which is frequently made when pilots crash. I agree. Thanks for the sentiment.

61,000 feet in TWO minutes? There ain't a roller coaster on earth that can much that kind of rush! Wow! Sorry to hear about the loss of the pilot's life.
