Today I took advantage of 64 degree temps to walk, alone, along the shore of the Atlantic Ocean amongst the tracks of people and vehicles which had gone before me.
As I did so, I watched the incoming tide begin to erase them gradually, and I wondered how many times since ‘the beginning’ had the tide crept slowly over that very beach before receding to prepare to do it all over again
Weekend crowds were manageable.

Looks like a truly beautiful day to be out.
Great picture. That is the kind of place I wouldn't want to leave. Especially with that level of crowd manageability
Long Island has some of the finest ocean beaches I've seen anywhere in the world, and fall is perhaps the most gorgeous time of all to visit.
I'm envious!
They have some pretty low cost fares to the east coast. Getting a bit late in the season for '11, but keep it in mind for next year.
Sounds a bit cool for me, but it sure is beautiful.
Although the bank thermometers a mile up the road were displaying 64 (degrees F), in point of fact, those of us who have been visiting the seashore for over half a century know enough to dress for feel-like temperatures significantly cooler. I did and was glad.
lovely pictures there, Fin!!
Danke, Frau Dorrie.
That looks pretty Fin! I'd be there in a second.
Surfers and fisherman were both in attendance.
It looks very peaceful there. :)

Thanks for the idea, maybe take that up next year, but I'm expecting to spend some time up in the mountains in this state in the coming summer.
