OK. The reason this was SO stunning to me, is because I was the one who took the top picture!!
In April 1966, my then wife and I bought a brand new triumph spitfire in England and this picture was taken in front of what I deemed to be a 'typical' English building. fin

Then back last June, one of my favorite websites had a little thread running where people posted photos and others would guess where they were.
I submitted mine, and two months later, got my answer in spades! I remain VERY impressed and have written to the owner of the website to say so.
