Blue Angels-then

This shows the APU which they used to start their planes. I got a kick out of how it was painted and numbered to match the planes. It looks like a vacuum cleaner on steroids.

Fat Albert's predecesor.

This show was at the Monterey Naval Air Station in California in 1964.

You can click each pic twice for more detail.

Those were supersonic Grumman F-11F tigers.

The transport was a C-118 I believe.

I hooked up those things to start a variety of fighter jets, once upon a time.
I forgot the entire procedure, but I hooked up O2 as well.
It is basically a vacuum cleaner on steroids, except the hose is on the blowing end.

More of these should be in private use. The ultimate sports car is a fighter jet--all engine with a seat, stick and rudder.
