Meanwhile, far far from the ash,

an old friend (thru the Panama canal together in Sept 04) made the news today by swerving to avoid a buoy and injuring 60 or so passengers.

I particularly like this shot (taken from a Robinson R-44 in Aruba) which was not altered nor cropped.

Beautiful! I have a friend whose husband works for Continental and she said he was headed to Paris last night. He told her there was ash all around France so he was thinking he may get 'ashed' in or whatever you call it.

Have a great weekend!

That's a big boat!
Seems a little crazy that a ship that big could make a turning maneuver so great that people would be falling all over the place - but then again, I've never been on one of those things.

From some of the onboard accounts, the deck pools totally emptied out almost instantly, with people in them. Bolted down tables on the deck came loose, and it was a giant mix of flipflops, suncream, drinks and cruisers sluicing around the deck.

What's a cruiser?
The pools emptied out?
Freakin' full rudder turn?
That's CRAZY!!
