Goofball Dawg

Frankly, he looks like a photoshop of a Springer Spaniel and a Basset Hound.

But he needs a home and Blogger Girl is due for a new wonder dog, and he seems to like Fin.

That dog looks as goofy as my dog Duke. The goofy ones are always dumb as rocks - but always so lovable! Just about ANY dog will take a liking to you as long as you feed it and show it some loving!
Good luck with your new companion!

His former owner says he is VERY smart. So far he is not much of a big eater. But he LOVES to go for walks.

He looks like a fairly large dog - I have had mostly dumbness in dogs that size - but I always love them because it's quite entertaining. Duke is afraid of his own shadow - literally. I have never encountered a dog that doesn't like long walks - and it's one of the best ways to make him your best friend. I wish I could take mine for long walks - too hot right now.

well, at least you have the property for such a dog... in my apartment it just wouldn't work out. Give BG a hug from me, ok?

Your hug is on order together with the one from WIz. Happy to comply. It takes six or seven minutes brisk walk to walk the perimeter of the yard.

Yon hound will have his first birthday next week.

His former owner delivered him to our doorstep together with a doghouse, travel cage, electric fence, collar, three leashes, two dishes, a basket full of toys, medecines for him, a brush, AND AKC papers (saying he is a Basset) because he wants to travel in his large motor home, and after two days I can understand why yon hound would be a bit much in one of those, at least until he calms down a tad.

He weighs in at about 41 pounds but I am content he can exert five times that amount of pull on his leash. BG and I are both developing sore shoulders and arms, but he IS getting better. He is smart and really eager to please.

Done within the next twenty minutes.

Houndog has retired from his recent position as picky eater. BG checked on the internet and discovered that hand feeding him was NOT the way to go, so after two days of scheduled feeding with dish taken away and washed after twenty minutes, he decided he really likes dogfood.

Although he seems to have a decided preference for pizza crust....

Watch the Dog Whisperer.
Well, all of the dog experts agree that you should not allow a dog to pull on the leash. Get the special collar and put it high up on his neck. When he starts pulling, you simply give a slight yanking movement towards your waist. You basically continue doing this until the "activity" ceases. Easier to watch the experts doing it - and emulate them - than it is to explain it.
