One of my favorites, taken on the last available film on my third day in a 100 year old game park the size of New Jersey where I had seen just about every kind of wild animal that lives in South Africa.
Thanks. This one was planned. It was the same vacation as my supersonic flight in a 2 seater with some hands-on time. Pretty good vacation -- almost, dare I say, awesome?
I have a 6' tall carved wooden giraffe in my Lounge room - but this tops that!! I collect unusual giraffes. I had three ceramic but Geni and MsLizzie put an end to those ( sadly). On the fireplace I have two wrought iron giraffes.
I enjoyed seeing the lions, rhinos (black and grey) hippos, and especially an actual herd of elephants (34 or so) which crossed the road right in front of our van [with just the two of us, so perfect view from left front seat, due to right hand drive of course].
But for some reason, the giraffes sort of captured my imagination more than the rest, because they looked so representative of the place. We also saw a leopard which the guide said was rare, and we wondered if it was the same one which killed a guide just two weeks earlier who got out of his vehicle against all orders.

Very good shot, Fin :) Giraffe's are my most favorite jungle animal. :)
I was saving my last photo for a picture of the guide, but she looked at the giraffe and said, "Look, she's posing for you" and she sure was.
What a trip! Too bad abut the guy getting eaten by a leopard. I assume you stayed in the vehicle when they suggested it.
Beautiful. I bet that was an amazing place to visit.
Westy has a pic of a dinosaur on her blog - you have a giraffe. I'll take one of both - my front yard could use a little sprucing up.
